With this background, when my employer Conestoga College of
Applied Arts and Technology in Kitchener, Ontario announced late in 1995 that
they would consider applications for early retirement without undue penalties, I
knew my professional life was about over and I was to start on the next phase of
my life which began on June 1, 1996. After two years of thought, drafting and
redrafting a two page concept statement, I got my friends together on April 18,
1998 to consider my hazy ideas about launching an organization dedicated to
universal education for spiritual growth. They empathized with my feelings and
blessed the idea of starting the process of incorporating Spiritual Heritage
Education Network Inc.
I will open my presentation with information about this
organization to be followed by the concepts that subsequently developed about
spirit, ultimate reality, spirituality, essence of being, definition and
measures of spiritual development etc.
I will conclude my presentation by bringing to your
attention the unique opportunity for universal spiritual education presented to
us by recent history and calling upon us all to collaborate to develop a new
discipline of education to create one human family within the world community
inhabiting our global village. This discipline has been ignored by the
educational systems worldwide and we feel strongly that it is badly needed in
today’s troubled times.
